Incheon Airport to Seoul 2026: AREX Train, Airport Bus or Taxi?

After a long flight, the last thing you want is to stand in the arrivals hall trying to work out the trains. The good news: Incheon Airport is one of the easiest airports in the world to leave. The question is not whether you can get into Seoul, it is which way fits where you are staying.
Most guides list every option equally. In practice the choice comes down to one thing: where is your hotel compared with Seoul Station, Hongdae or a limousine bus stop?
Checked on October 19, 2026. Fares change; confirm on the AREX website or at the counter before you travel.

The short version

Option 1: AREX Express train
The AREX Express runs non-stop from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station: about 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and about 51 minutes from Terminal 2. Every seat is reserved, the carriages have luggage space, and it is calm and comfortable.
You need an Express ticket; you cannot just tap a T-money card. Buy at the AREX counter or machines in the airport station, or in advance. Online sellers often price it slightly differently from the counter; when we checked on October 19, 2026, Trip.com listed it from 11,500 won with 3,800+ reviews.
Take it if: your hotel is around Seoul Station, Namdaemun, Myeongdong or City Hall, or you are changing to a KTX at Seoul Station.
Option 2: AREX All-stop train
The All-stop train uses the same line but stops at about ten stations, including Gimpo Airport, Hongik University (Hongdae), Gongdeok and Seoul Station. It takes about an hour to Seoul Station and costs far less: around 4,750 won from Terminal 1 according to a July 2026 fare listing (a little more from Terminal 2). You simply tap a T-money card or a contactless card at the gate.
Take it if: you are staying in Hongdae, Mapo or near Gongdeok, or you are on a budget. It is a commuter train, so at rush hour you may stand with your suitcase.
You can buy a T-money card at the airport convenience stores, or collect one you ordered in advance:
Option 3: airport limousine bus
Airport limousine buses go directly to major hotels and districts: Dongdaemun, Myeongdong, Gangnam, COEX, Jamsil, Yeouido and more. Adult fares are generally around 17,000–18,000 won depending on the route. The bus takes your big bags underneath, and many stop right outside large hotels.
The ride is usually 60 to 90 minutes, longer in evening traffic. Ticket counters are in the arrivals halls, and the bus stops are just outside. You can also book in advance:
Take it if: your hotel is on a limousine route, especially in Gangnam, Dongdaemun or Jamsil, which take one or more transfers by train, or you have heavy luggage.
Option 4: taxi
A taxi from Incheon into central Seoul takes about an hour without traffic. Expect well over 50,000 won including tolls, more for deluxe (black) taxis and late at night. Use the official taxi rank, or book through the Kakao T app, which shows an estimated fare first.
Take it if: you are a group of three or four with luggage, you land very late, or you are going somewhere awkward by public transport.
Landing late?
AREX and most limousine buses stop running around midnight, and the exact last times differ by route. A few late-night buses run, but routes are limited. If you land after about 11 pm, check the last departures before you fly, or plan a taxi. Some travellers simply stay at an airport hotel and go into Seoul in the morning.
Before you leave the arrivals hall
- Data first. Google Maps does not give full walking directions in Korea. Install Naver Map or KakaoMap, and pick up your eSIM or turn it on as soon as you land.
- Cash and T-money. Get a T-money card at a convenience store and top it up with cash. You will use it from the All-stop train onwards.
- Hotel address in Korean. Save it in your phone for taxi drivers.

Staying near a limousine route
If you are flexible on area, a hotel on a direct limousine route saves the most effort on arrival day. Dongdaemun is served by direct airport buses and is well connected by subway. One current deal when we checked on October 19, 2026: a hotel in Dongdaemun rated 8.4/10 from 585 reviews, listed about 20% below its usual rate.
